Start with what the order brings in
Enter the order revenue you want to model. Then add the product’s landed purchase cost, packaging, and an average advertising cost per order. Use consistent tax treatment for all amounts.
Separate fees from product costs
This calculator charges commission on the entered selling price. It adds fixed and shipping fees, then applies your entered fee-tax percentage to the sum of those three fees. The model is intentionally transparent; check whether this treatment matches your own marketplace statement.
Example: selling price ₹599, product cost ₹250, packaging ₹15, commission 12%, fixed fee ₹20, shipping ₹65, and fee tax 18%. Commission is ₹71.88. Total fees including fee tax are ₹185.12. Estimated settlement is ₹413.88 and estimated profit is ₹148.88, or 24.9% of revenue.
Margin and markup mean different things
Margin is profit divided by selling price. Markup is profit divided by your costs. A 25% margin and a 25% markup do not lead to the same selling price.
Use settlement as one step in the calculation
Here, estimated settlement means order revenue minus the fees entered into the tool. Your actual bank settlement can also include withholding, refunds, reimbursements, reserves, and other adjustments. It is not a final tax or accounting statement.
Know what is outside this estimate
Output GST, input tax credits, TCS, TDS, category fee slabs, weight slabs, and fulfilment-specific rules are not automatically modelled. Use the official rate card and your accountant’s treatment when filling in the amounts.
